Apple iPad seems to be the fulfillment of a dream of some people. With just a tablet capable of performing computer functions, no wonder people are more than happy to have their hands on the said tablet. As innovations and improvements continue to bombard the world, more and more devices are brought into the market for people’s use. One of these innovations is the new Cisco Cius.

Cisco cius is very similar to the Apple’s iPad but very different in terms of its function and some of the features that it caters. TelePresence video conferencing technology, WebEx Web conferencing and meeting applications are only few of the unique applications that the new tablet offers.

Cius is actually a business-oriented tablet. Technically, it does not intend to compete with the Apple’s iPad according to the Cisco who launched the said device. It is even regarded as a device to compliment the famous iPad but may also be taken as an option in case choosing between the two. The two tablets are very different, starting from the size since iPad is 9.7 inch diagonally while Cius is just 7 inch long diagonally. But both tablets offer 3G and 4G connectivity.

In terms of memory and processor, Cius offers the same memory amount as iPad’s. For its processor, it uses 1GHZ Intel Atom processor which is also similar with the iPad’s. Similarities may have seen with both tablets’ hard ware but what’s different are their applications catering to different functions and purposes.

As revealed earlier, Cius was incorporated to serve businessmen as an aid for their businesses and companies. The existence of TelePresence video conferencing, WebEx Saas, native VPN client and Cisco Quad collaboration platform that will be the avenue for applications that will aid the said tablet. Some of these applications are calendar, instant messaging and VoIP. Moreover, Cius is also capable of using applications of the Android market where users could download any application that they want.

In the aspect of browsing, Mozilla Firefox is its default web browser as iPad has Safari as its browser. It uses the operating system of Android which is innovated by Google and invaded the world with its functions and amazing abilities. The tablet also has a camera with video camera of 5MP installed in front to be used for the conferencing features that the tablet offers.

Cisco Cius and Apple iPad may have its similarities. But Cius is especially tailored for businessmen that enterprises do not actually see the two as competitors but more on two tablets in a different industries.
