Google has been quite famous in creating hype about all its new launches, no matter how small or large they may be. Well, this time with the release of the Nexus One, the computer giants seem to have done its homework perfectly. The company launched its first smartphone, Nexus phone into the market with aim of overtaking Apple’s iPhone. Though it is true that Google has been trying its best to enter the industry of smartphones, it seems to be very difficult to do so considering the existence of iPhone. However, the added features in this new smartphone may be considered a teaser, especially if you are planning to buy one of the best smartphones released in the recent times.

Launched last January, the Nexus one was one of the phones that were rumored to be the set of the iPhone killers. The new released phones of that time were expected to set the new standard in the industry of smartphones. The nexus is the hope of the Google to completely defeat the raging iPhones in the business. Much more, different labels were given to the phone which presupposes high expectation from the phone. Some of the names that were made to fit the nexus phone are superphone, the next step in Android evolution and the web meets phone. With these labels, what more could users expect from the phone?

But this does not seem to be the case for the product. Sales are frustrating and soon disappointments followed the high sets of expectations from the mobile phone. Another factor which contributed to the downfall of the phone was the rumor that there is another edition of the phone which is released with physical keyboard on its use.

With this downfall, Google has hinted the decision of finally stopping the venture on handsets. According to Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO, the decision will be entirely based on the effect of nexus one, one of the nexus phones. This aneroid is expected to aid the Android operating system of Google with its venture to create giant handsets.

Schmidt tells Telegraph that the Nexus one is challenged to bring forth the hardware business of phone platform forward. Nexus one was given one and a half year to accomplish this task. And fortunately, the challenge was successful. And though people have criticized the company for this, Google still believe that Nexus one has done excellently.
